Peter Howarth Non-Exec Director
I started my career at Rolls-Royce after my degree in Aeronautical Engineering (MEng) at the University of Bristol, spending 2 further years going through the Rolls-Royce graduate training programme. Working on military gas turbine engine projects including those in the Apache helicopter and Harrier aircraft, I gained knowledge and experience across a broad range of engineering disciplines and management training, with a focus on control systems engineering.
Finding my niche in software development, I transferred to Data Systems & Solutions - a JV between Rolls-Royce and SAIC (Science Applications Inc.) in the USA. Initially working as a software engineer on projects developing asset management platforms to manage aircraft engine fleets, I moved into marketing as Corporate Webmaster - the combination of technology with marketing being what I enjoyed most.
After a further 5 years I made the leap into business, finding my true calling in e-commerce where I could bring my skills in full-stack software development and digital marketing to bear. Together with Mark Callaghan (now Smarter Capital CEO) we went on to found a start-up and built it into a £25M revenue e-commerce and B2B distribution business in FMCG, exporting globally. As E-commerce Director I built out the full technology eco-system, developing our core web application and integrating the full suite of associated systems.
My role at Smarter Capital involves working across the group of businesses, strategically helping with technology, growth and supporting our e-commerce and software development businesses in particular. I'm excited by the capabilities that I can see within ChilliApple, and what a bright future the business has helping organisations navigate complex digital transformation as a key partner.
