Based in West Sussex with clients nationwide, the company has become known as the Embroidery Specialists as all work is carried out in house with the very latest equipment and industry leading threads and materials.
Merlin Workwear hired chilliapple to upgrade their website from Magento 2.3.5 to 2.4.2, carry out a server migration and fix various bugs as well as build enhancements into the user journey.
Upgrading Magento sites is second nature for chilliapple and the latest version, 2.4.2, brings with it exciting new features and fixes that can be enjoyed by our clients and their users. Not only does this version improve user experience at the front end but it also enhances the backend performance as well as security.
With a chilliapple project team of Magento specialists and an account manager, we created a plan that would not interrupt ‘business as usual’. We retained all existing functionality, fully migrated all product and category data and other site content as well as customer and order data. We ensured the upgraded site was optimised for search engines and speed. Valuable SEO equity was retained and Google Analytics configured. We migrated the site from AWS to a dedicated UK Fast Magento optimised server within a day and configured the SSL Certificate to ensure that all of the data was encrypted and the site remained secure.
We also delivered a dozen fixes and enhancements. This included IP restriction on admin and implementation of a plugin which can convert the user from a guest to a customer. We also handled the resolution of past issues such as duplicate shipping addresses and a stack of obsolete product attributes.
As with all projects, we tracked site performance for 60 days and fixed any bugs.
The Merlin workwear team saw a noticeable improvement in the response time of their Magento’s admin panel when they were processing orders. With the multiple fixes we have made on the Magento Admin panel, the Merlin team have been able to process orders and handle customer queries much faster than before. And with the fixes we have made on the front-end, we have eased the customer journey to keep visitors on site.
