about the project

Abbey Stationery now has a new look and feel, is more user-friendly and it is easier for customers to purchase products – whether they are off-the-shelf or bespoke.

The business requirements

Abbey Stationery is an eCommerce store, originally built in Magento 1, that produces bespoke ring binders, folders, files and stationery accessories to customers in the UK and Europe. They took the opportunity to rebrand at the same time as migrating their multistore to Magento 2, to bring a fresh new look and feel to the Abbey Stationery site, while maintaining brand familiarity.

Our solution

Together we selected a new Magento 2 theme, and customised it so it was in keeping with the new Abbey Stationery brand guidelines. We performed full data migration for the products, categories, customers and content from the Magento 1 site, and installed and configured the Magento 2 versions of third-party modules. The old site had its ‘shop’ located on a separate URL, so this was also merged into the main Abbey Stationery domain. We set up 301 redirects and followed Google best practice in order to maintain SEO equity. We also set up an Irish site using Magento multistore. This has the same theme, content and products, but the prices are displayed in Euros.

The results

Abbey Stationery now has a new look and feel, is more user-friendly and it is easier for customers to purchase products – whether they are off-the-shelf or bespoke. The store is powered by Magento 2 multistore, which offers many new features in both the admin backend and customer-facing frontend.
