Magna Food Health and Safety (FHS) is an industry-leading company for Food Safety & Health and Safety Consultancy and Training. Their aim is to help clients improve their business operations, fully train their employees, and adhere to Food, Health and Safety Standards.


Business Requirements

Magna Food Health and Safety (FHS) is an industry-leading company for Food Safety & Health and Safety Consultancy and Training. Their aim is to help clients improve their business operations, fully train their employees, and adhere to Food, Health and Safety Standards.
The client came to us looking for a long-term technical partnership for continuous development of their existing products that use a combination of Laravel, React Native, and WordPress technologies. Our Business Development Manager and CTO worked with Magna FHS to understand the system and its functionality, and the client was assigned a dedicated chilliapple Account Manager to act as their direct point of contact moving forward.

Our Solution

After an initial conversation with the client, it was discovered that a change in hosting was required as part of the move from the client’s existing developer and so we put them in touch with one of our long-term partners, ANS (formerly known as UKFast). We then successfully migrated the client’s website to their new hosting provider.
Following this success, we then moved on to scoping out Phase 1 of the development as outlined by the client. This included a list of legacy issues within the app that were a priority to investigate and resolve. After consulting with our Head of Bespoke Technologies and conducting a code review, we assessed each issue individually and recommended solutions.
Some key fixes included within this initial phase of work were fixing the cut-off time for submissions (a previously developed functionality that did not work correctly), tidying up the format of forms in the admin for better visibility for users, and adding a pop-up to alert users of new updates.

The Results

Magna FHS and its customers are now benefitting from new and exciting features and functionality on their app, which have ultimately improved user experience. This has enabled the team at Magna FHS to move their focus from fixing legacy issues and dealing with the related customer complaints, to instead building their customer base and continuing their expansion. We are excited to be a part of Magna’s growth and look forward to supporting them in all their future development requirements.
