About The TN Card

Founded in 2022 by Jess Gibson, The TN card is a loyalty reward scheme for Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks communities, encouraging its users to support independent businesses. More recently, the TN card has expanded into Sevenoaks, Southborough, Tenterden, Westerham, and Crowborough, with more expansion on the horizon. Memberships allow all users to have access to a broad range of rewards at local shops, restaurants, bars, hotels and days out. 

The TN card has also hosted and organised the Tonbridge Business Awards, and Tunbridge Wells Business Awards which chilliapple had the pleasure of sponsoring both events in 2024.

Business Requirements:

The TN card approached chilliapple in 2022, looking for someone to take over the management and development of their app, available in both iOS and Android. With some longstanding issues present in the app, The TN card was keen to partner with a developer who could not only help resolve those issues but also work together to add new features and improve the user experience.

Technologies used

The TN card utilises Native technology to prioritise performance, access to device features, and a seamless user experience for users across both iOS and Android devices.

Services we offered

After inheriting The TN card, it was key for chilliapple to understand the current business pain points and work with The TN card to implement resolutions that would would have the most impact on members.

  • Access in Offline Mode:

    Members were often complaining they were unable to access certain parts of the app when offline. As some businesses in the directory are in places with limited online access, it was crucial to implement the ability for users to access their digital cards, QR codes, and images when offline.

  • Push Notifications for Events:

    To help boost the visibility of new events, chilliapple implemented push notifications to alert members when a new event was created and available to register for.

  • New filters for businesses:

    As The TN card has a key focus on family first, it was important to add filters to the app to identify businesses that are family-friendly or dog-friendly (or both!)

  • Branding

    For  fresh new look, The TN card updated its logo and colour scheme, meaning the app had to keep up-to-date. Chilliapple amended the loading logo, changed the HEX across the app to be consistent, and updated the app-stores logo on both iOS and Android.
