The business requirements

Skirting 4 U is a leading supplier of skirting boards in the UK. They sell bespoke, custom made skirting boards rather than ‘one size fits all’. The business employs over 40 people and ships thousands of skirting boards, architraves and other mouldings throughout the country every week to both trade and customers directly.

The Skirting 4 U website was operating on an out of date (1.6.1) version of Prestashop and needed to be updated to version 1.7.6.1 to ensure security and the best user experience. The client wanted to stay with Prestashop as staff were familiar with its simple, powerful and adaptable e-commerce content management system which they were using as a CRM and eRM tool. The other reasons for wanting to stay with Prestashop are its easy to use SEO features such as the ability to change title tags and create user friendly URLs, its wide choice of Graphic Themes, not to mention the fact that it has open source code and is 100% free. With more than 300,000 online shops globally using over 600 functionality features with Prestashop, Skirting 4 U could feel confident that it was still the right choice for their business.

Our solution

With a core chilliapple project team of 8 specialists and an account manager, we upgraded the client’s site without any business interruption.  We retained all existing functionality, fully migrated all product and category data and other site content as well as customer and order data. We ensured the upgraded site was optimised for speed as well as for search engines. SEO equity was retained and Google Analytics configured.  We used a mobile responsive design theme to keep the costs down and migrated the site to a dedicated UK Fast Prestashop optimised server.  After launch, we tracked site performance for 60 days and fixed any bugs.

The results

Results have been exceptional.  Trading has continued to climb during the Covid –19 lockdown and the client has been able to distribute its products nationally with a superior online offering.
