Business requirements

Thermapen thermometers are used worldwide in restaurants, hotels and kitchens. Anywhere that perfectly cooked food is served. Meeting the thermometer standard EN 13485, they are faster and more accurate than any other cooking thermometer on the market. Cooking to temperature using Thermapen, rather than time, is the most effective way of checking that food is not overcooked and is safe to eat.

Thermapen wanted a more image-based design for their B2C focused website, to better represent their brand messaging to their consumers. They approached chilliapple for an upgraded website with a fresh design that would aesthetically impress and attract users.

Our solution

A chilliapple Account Manager and Project Manager worked alongside one of our web designers and PrestaShop specialists throughout the upgrade so that Thermapen was always informed of the status of the project. An efficient feedback loop made sure that the project stuck to the timelines, the specifications and the budget. The Project Management tool Basecamp was used by all parties to aid communication.

We upgraded the site from PrestaShop 1.6 to 1.7.8.0. To ensure the Thermapen site benefited from a fast, clean, highly customisable and responsive look and feel, we implemented the Akira theme and customised it to suit the Thermapen brand and specific requirements. We carried out a full migration of all data from the previous website and installed and configured all necessary modules.

The results

The upgraded PrestaShop site gives Thermapen exactly what they need. It allows Thermapen to tell the story of its product development and inspire its users in an engaging and informative way alongside an eCommerce solution that is easy to use and intuitive.
