Day in the Life of… Lauren Collings

Lauren helps to keep chilliapple customers happy with her great organisational skills and positive attitude… and special love of Magento upgrades (yes, really!). 

What is your role?
I am an Account Executive.

When did you start at chilliapple?
I started in July 2020.

What’s a typical working day look like?
I always kickstart my day with an early morning HIIT workout or a run as it wakes me up and gives me a clear headspace to start my day. I love a check list so every morning I jot down my top three priorities for the day which often includes updating clients on the latest progress from our development team or scheduling or joining a catch-up call with them. My tick list helps me to stay on track. I know I can move on to other tasks when my top three actions have been achieved.

What has been your favourite project so far?
My favourite projects are Magento upgrades! I have recently completed a Magento 1 to Magento 2 migration where we needed to build an API bridge from their current ERP solution to Magento. This was an interesting part of the project and I’ve learnt a lot about the technicalities behind the scenes.

Before working at chilliapple, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I was an events instructor and co-ordinator for a hen and stag outdoor events company in Brighton…. That meant working into the early hours and, without fail, being stunned by the stag costumes!

What are your hopes for our industry?
To make a difference to the world, helping individuals, through digital, to realise their business dreams they never thought they would accomplish. To improve and increase the flow of data and critical information, to mitigate future global health pandemics and improve the prosperity and wellbeing of all, especially the less fortunate.

What do you like most about chilliapple?
No day is ever the same. My colleagues are great to be around (even when working remotely) and I’ve enjoyed learning about our development team’s Indian culture.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I was born two months early and weighed just over 2lbs. Years later in my teens, I had keyhole heart surgery for a heart defect which may have been caused by my prematurity.

What is your hidden talent?
Hoarding and drinking copious amounts of gin…
